January 27th, 2014 24 hour news release

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 115 calls for service from January 23rd, 8 AM till January 27th, 8 AM. During the same time period there have been 31 people lodged in Terrace Cells. 21 of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

  • Fight on Legion Ave/Lakelse Ave. Police attempted to speak with the people involved. An intoxicated man was arrested when he attempted to leave. He resisted arrest and had to be restrained. Checks determined that the man was on probation conditions of not to be in Terrace and not to be outside of his residence under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There was also a warrant for failing to comply with probation out of Kitimat for the man’s arrest. Police forwarded charges on the man and he was held for court. On January 24th Kody POW 24 yrs old, was convicted of Failing to Comply with Probation and resisting arrest and remains incarcerated. A 34 yr old woman also involved in this altercation was arrested for public intoxication and theft. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • A white 1995 Ford Taurus crashed into the ditch and hit a telephone pole at Dover Rd/Kalum Lake Rd. The four people in the vehicle were uncooperative with police and intoxicated. A 24 yr old man and a 29 yr old woman were arrested for public intoxication. A 23 yr old woman was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for other medical issues. A 20 yr old man was the driver and dealt with by the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was towed.
  • A blue 1997 Dodge Ram and a red Ford 2007 Fusion collided at Kalum St/Lazelle Ave. The Ford sustained major damage and the rear passenger was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.
  • Loss Prevention Office of Walmart arrested a 16 yr old boy for shoplifting. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • Hit and run to a 2004 Chevrolet Epica parked at the Chances Casino sometime between 7 and 7:30 PM on January 24th. The rear taillight and fender were damaged.
  • Request from the Thornhill Fire Department to assist with an out of control house party on Century St with minors drinking alcohol. An intoxicated 16 yr old youth was arrested and then taken to Mills Memorial Hospital due to his level of intoxication. A grey 2005 Chevrolet Uplander Van was observed driving in an erratic manner in the area. The driver refused to provide a sample of breath into a roadside screening device. She was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle was impounded. An 18 yr old man was arrested for public intoxication.
  • 79 yr old deceased man on Dobbie St.
  • Domestic assault. An 18 yr old man was arrested for assault. A 19 yr old woman was transported to another residence. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • A suspicious vehicle parked on a logging road on Krumm Rd. Police observed a man passed out in the driver’s seat of the running Toyota Corolla. There was drug paraphernalia in and around the vehicle. The man was acting in an irrational and intoxicated manner and was served an Immediate Roadside Suspension.
  • Fight at a residence in Gitaus. A woman had a popsicle stick jabbed into her eye. Injuries received were minimal. Under investigation.
  • A black mountain bike with no seat was stolen from beside Spotless Cleaner Center on Emerson St.
  • Domestic assault. A woman and a man both sustained minor injuries. Police arrested the 24 yr old man for breaching his no contact condition and outstanding warrants out of New Aiyansh. He is held for court.
  • Domestic assault. A man pushed a woman to the ground then grabbed her by the hair and made threatening gestures. Police arrested an intoxicated 21 yr old man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • A white 2014 Toyota Tundra was pulled over on Keith Ave. Investigation led to the discovery of a large amount of money, drugs, and a conducted energy weapon in the possession of the 59 yr old man. He was arrested. Under investigation.

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 34 calls for service from January 22nd, 8 AM till January 23rd, 8 AM. During the same time period there were three people lodged in Terrace Cells. One of these persons was lodged for intoxication.

Downtown Terrace

  • A 16 yr old shoplifter was arrested by a Safeway employee. Police turned the youth over to his parent.
  • A woman screaming and running in the area of McDonald’s being chased by three men. Police located a 13 yr old girl who matched the description provided. She was fine.
  • A young suspicious woman examining jewellery in behind a dumpster. Checks were done of the area.
  • Warrant issued for 31 yr old woman for failing to attend court.
  • False business alarm on Eby St
  • Landlord tenant dispute with threats being uttered. Police spoke with the people involved.
  • False business alarm on Walsh Ave.
  • Panic alarm at Mills Memorial Hospital. An unruly patient. Police stood by and kept the peace.
  • A man got out of his truck and approached another man in a vehicle in a threatening way. Checks were done of the area.
  • Unsecure building on Kalum St. Police cleared the building.
  • Intoxicated man wondering the bush. BC Ambulance transported the man to Mills Memorial Hospital. Police were called to Mills Memorial Hospital a short time later and arrested the 47 yr old man for public intoxication.
  • Loss prevention officer arrested a shoplifter who was being belligerent and throwing things. Police attended and arrested the 39 yr old man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • Three false residential alarms same residence on Yeo St.
  • False business alarm on Lazelle Ave.
  • Abandoned 911 call from a payphone at the Terrace Arena. Checks were done of the area.
  • A man wanted on warrants called to turn himself in. Police checked various residences. The man decided to do this in another town.
  • False business alarm on Eby St.
  • Domestic assault. A man kicked a door in and assaulted a woman. Police transported the woman to Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries received. A 37 yr old man was arrested for assault and is held for court. He was on probation for a similar incident.
  • Suicidal 18 yr old woman. Police located the woman walking and apprehended her under the Mental Health Act.
  • Two people sitting on the shoulder of Hwy 16 near Walmart. Checks were done of the area.
  • Theft of cell phone. Further details were not obtained.
  • Disturbance at a residence on Kalum St. Police spoke with the people involved. No offence committed.
  • False 911 call from a residence on Park Ave. Children were playing with the phone.
  • A person reported an offence that was already being investigated.
  • A black and grey Guess wallet containing various cards and ID was stolen from a vehicle parked on Old Lakelse Lake Dr.
  • Missing 31 yr old woman. She was not missing.
  • Fight outside of a residence on Mountainview Ave. A woman was transported via BC Ambulance to Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. The fight was consensual.
  • Disturbance at the Northern Motor Inn. Police arrested a 43 yr old woman for public intoxication.
  • A green 1997 Ford Explorer was pulled over on Hwy 37/Keith Ave for failing to comply with a Notice and Order.
  • Breach of a no contact order stemming from a domestic. Under investigation.
  • Wellbeing concern of a 2 yr old child.
  • Threats investigation stemming from a domestic.
  • A lost gold horse shoe ring with a horse in the center.
  • Rash of suspicious circumstances occurring to a woman. Police spoke with her about the matter.

Rural

  • A logging truck driving in an erratic manner between Terrace and New Hazelton. Police have contacted the registered owner and other agencies.
  • A dog left its property and attacked another dog that a man was walking on Williams Creek Ave. Police issued a fine for dangerous dog at large.
  • Information received from Conservation Office in regards to officer safety.
  • A white 2010 Chevrolet Express Van was pulled over on Hwy 37 near Onion Lake. The 60 yr old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Kitsumkalum

  • Disturbance at a residence. Police spoke with two intoxicated yelling men. A 34 yr old man was transported to another residence till sobriety could prevail.

Gitaus, Kulspai

  • Nothing to report

January 22nd, 2014 24 hour news release

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 21 calls for service from January 21st, 8 AM till January 22nd, 8 AM. During the same time period nobody was lodged in Terrace Cells.

Downtown Terrace

  • Theft of TV, wallet, and belongings from a hotel room. Investigation led police to a residence and the TV was recovered.
  • Two intoxicated women drinking open alcohol in a business on Lakelse Ave. They left prior to police attendance. Checks were done of the area.
  • Uttering threats investigation. A customer was not happy with the service he received at a business and uttered threats to an employee.

Elsewhere Terrace

  • A wallet was found at Dairy Queen and returned to its owner.
  • Intoxicated suicidal 12 yr old girl in the Cassie Hall playground. Police spoke to the people involved.
  • False business alarm on Legion Ave.
  • Man and woman arguing on Haugland Ave. Police spoke with an intoxicated man and woman. No offence committed.
  • False 911 call from a payphone on Keith Ave.
  • A man accessing text messages of an estranged spouse. Police gave advice on the matter.
  • Drug investigation. People were spoken with.

Thornhill

  • A group fighting at the bus stop on Queensway Dr. Checks were done of the area.
  • Guns shots in the area of Kirkaldy St. A second call was received. Police pulled over a red 1987 Nissan Pathfinder that was backfiring on Haaland Ave. Police arrested the 19 yr old driver and 17 yr old passenger for possession of marihuana. An amount of marihuana was seized. The driver did not have a driver’s licence. The vehicle was impounded.
  • Wellbeing check on staff of a hotel. Police were advised prior to attendance that the staff had checked in and were okay.
  • Document service for Lisims Nass Valley RCMP.
  • Landlord/tenant dispute. Police gave advice on the matter.
  • A red 1995 Dodge Neon rear ended a red 2010 Dodge Ram on Hwy 37/Queensway Dr. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No injuries.

Rural

  • A grey Honda Civic was pulled over on Hwy 16 east of Prince Rupert early in the morning. The 43 yr old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in warns. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.
  • Rock slide on Hwy 16 west of Terrace. A large boulder was partially blocking the road. Police requested the assistance of highway maintenance who cleared the roadway.

Kitsumkalum

  • A red 2008 Nissan truck and a 1996 Acura collided on Hwy 16/West Kalum Rd. Minor damage to the Acura. No injuries.

Gitaus, Kulspai

  • Nothing to report

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 38 calls for service from January 20th, 8 AM till January 21st, 8 AM. During the same time period there were six people lodged in Terrace Cells, all for intoxication.

Downtown Terrace

  • Group of intoxicated people in behind Lakelse Ave. Checks were done of the area.
  • Request for assistance from BC Ambulance. Police spoke with a person.
  • Intoxicated man passed out in a lobby of a business on Park Ave. Police arrested a 43 yr old man.
  • Man passed out in front of the Spirit Nightclub on Lakelse Ave. Police arrested a 71 yr old man.

Elsewhere Terrace

  • False business alarm on Keith Ave.
  • Missing 14 yr old since Friday. He returned home.
  • Damage to a black 2013 Toyota 4 Runner that occurred on January 11th possibly at the Skeena Mall or Pizza Hut. Scratches to the side.
  • Wellbeing check of a 69 yr old man. He was fine.
  • Man passed out in the Terrace Library. Police arrested a 22 yr old man.
  • Two warrants issued for a 20 yr old man who failed to show for court.
  • A red 2009 Ford Flex was pulled over on Thomas St/Scott Ave. The 30 yr old driver did not have a driver’s licence and had a notice to serve a driving prohibition.
  • A woman wanted her intoxicated roommate removed from their residence. Police spoke with the people involved. The man was not committing an offence and was not removed.
  • A 39 yr old man pushed a 12 yr old boy at a school. Police spoke with the people involved and the situation was resolved.
  • Aggressive tenant at a residence threatened staff over having to do dishes. Police spoke with the people involved and the situation was resolved.
  • Intoxicated man trying to fight another man outside of a residence on Scott Ave. Checks were done of the area. Two more calls came in about the man, alleging he was suicidal. Police arrested the man on Keith Ave. He was breaching his no consume alcohol conditions.
  • Familial dispute. On a second call a 12 yr old girl was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.
  • An 18 yr old man walking on Kalum St/Loen Ave near midnight was robbed of his Sony Experia J cell phone, Gateway Laptop, and cash. Under investigation.
  • Suicidal 37 yr old man. Under investigation.
  • A man causing a disturbance at a residence. The 44 yr old man was arrested on a second call.
  • Man observed accessing a unit by a patio door. Police found the suspicious man. He was locked out of his own residence.
  • Missing 23 yr old woman. She was not missing.
  • A green coin purse containing ID was lost on Saturday night maybe at the Terrace Liquor Store at 4:30 PM.
  • A warrant was issued for a 41 yr old woman for failing to show up for court.
  • Stolen licence plate #HL4676

Thornhill

  • False residential alarm on Clark St.
  • Erratic driver in a grey vehicle on Hwy 16 east of Terrace. Checks were done of the area.
  • Intoxicated man refusing to pay taxi fare. The man also ate merchandise in the Copperside on Hwy 16 East without paying. Police arrested the 26 yr old man.
  • Theft of ATV
  • False business alarm on Hwy 16 East.

Rural

  • A red Ford Escape in the ditch on Kalum Lake Rd near Dover Rd. The vehicle was stuck and a tow was used to get it out of the ditch. No injuries. No damage.
  • A grey Toyota Prius upside down in the ditch on Hwy 37 north of Westside Rd. No injuries.
  • Intoxicated woman hitchhiking on Hwy 16/Gitaus Rd. Police located the woman and transported her to a residence.
  • A grey 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was pulled over on Hwy 37/Industrial Way. The 46 yr old driver was issued a driving prohibition and his vehicle was towed.

Gitaus

  • Man babysitting his granddaughter being bothered by an intoxicated person. Investigation determined this complaint unfounded.

Kitsumkalum, Kulspai

January 17th, 2014 24 hour news release

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 18 calls for service from January 16th, 8 AM till January 17th, 8 AM. During the same time period there have been three people lodged in Terrace Cells. One person was lodged for public intoxication.

Downtown Terrace

  • Stolen vehicle. It was not stolen. The driver had forgotten where he had parked it.
  • Familial dispute. A person was not letting another person gather her belongings to move out. Police spoke with the people involved and an agreement was reached.
  • 911 call form a cell phone.

Elsewhere Terrace

  • AWOL 29 yr old man from Mills Memorial Hospital.
  • Warrant issued for a 38 yr old man for failing to comply with probation.
  • A grey and black Dakine wallet was lost near the Terrace arena sometime in August.
  • Intoxicated group of men in A&W. One of the men refused to leave the washroom and attempted to strike a store employee. The men left prior to police arrival. Checks were done of the area.
  • Theft from an unlocked red 2009 Pontiac G8 parked on Cory Dr. Money was stolen.
  • Intoxicated man passed out in Mills Memorial Hospital. Police arrested a 43 yr old man for public intoxication.
  • Erratic driver in a green 2006 Nissan Sentra. Police spoke with the 84 yr old driver and transported him home.
  • Report of child assault. Unfounded. Police determined that the 14 yr old boy was lying because he was mad at his parents for being grounded.
  • Possible impaired driver in a GMC Sierra on Graham Ave. Police spoke with the registered owner at their residence. She was sober and trying to avoid potholes.
  • Familial dispute. A mother wanted to use the computer and her daughter would not get off of it. This led to a wrestling match on the couch over the phone. Police were directed to send the 17 yr old girl to bed, which police do not have authority to do. Everyone was spoken with and a resolution was reached.
  • A suicidal 17 yr old girl.
  • A van parked on Eagle Pl was broken into overnight and a wallet containing various cards and ID was stolen.
  • Possession of child pornography and luring investigation.

Thornhill

  • A green Explorer was pulled over on Hwy 37 South. Two men ages 26 and 59 were arrested. An amount of drugs and electronic devices were seized.

Rural

  • Assist Kelowna RCMP with document service.
  • Lost property.

Gitaus, Kulspai, Kitsumkalum

  • Nothing to report
